Wadkin mortise and tenon machinery used at SUNSET Joinery to machine traditional timber joints for window and door components.
Mortise and tenon joinery is used throughout our door and sash components to create strong, accurate connections.
At SUNSET, the tenons are machined on our Wadkin tenoner — a machine that has been in service for around 70 years and still gives us the precision we need today.
The mortise forms the receiving side of the joint, allowing the tenon to slide into place before the connection is glued and fixed. The result is a rigid, dependable joint that has been used in timber joinery for generations.
In this workshop clip, Tomi explains how we use the mortise and tenon process as part of our window and door manufacturing.
