Built to last. Made with care.
At SUNSET, sustainability starts with longevity.
We believe the most responsible joinery is joinery that doesn’t need replacing.
For over six decades, we’ve worked with solid timber to create doors, windows and joinery elements designed to endure — physically, aesthetically, and culturally.
Thoughtful material selection
We prioritise responsibly sourced Australian and imported timbers selected for durability, repairability, and long service life.
Natural timber is renewable, repairable, and ages with character rather than becoming obsolete.
Where possible, we:
Use solid timber over composite alternatives
Select species appropriate to the application and exposure
Avoid short-life finishes and systems that limit future repair
Longevity over replacement
Well-made timber joinery can last generations.
Unlike disposable building products, our work is designed to be maintained, repaired, and refined over time — particularly important in heritage and architecturally sensitive projects.
This approach reduces material waste, preserves embodied energy, and respects the original intent of the building.
Workshop-led, not mass produced
All joinery is fabricated in our Melbourne workshop by skilled tradespeople.
This allows for:
Precise use of materials
Reduced errors and waste
Custom solutions rather than over-engineering
We build only what is required, for the project in front of us.
A quiet responsibility
Sustainability at Sunset isn’t a trend or a marketing layer.
It’s embedded in how we design, make, and think — with respect for materials, buildings, and the people who live with them.
