At SUNSET, sustainability starts with making things to last. Timber windows and doors have the ability to perform for generations when they are properly designed, manufactured and maintained. Rather than treating them as short-life building components, we approach each package with longevity, repairability and future maintenance in mind. We work predominantly with Australian hardwoods, selected for their durability, stability and suitability for architectural window and door systems. Timber also provides natural thermal performance, which can be combined with double glazing and considered detailing to improve the overall performance of the building envelope. Our workshop-led approach allows each project to be manufactured specifically for its application. For heritage projects, this can also mean retaining the character and proportions of traditional timber windows and doors while incorporating contemporary glazing and performance requirements. For us, sustainability isn't about adding another label to a product. It's about using appropriate materials, manufacturing carefully and creating windows and doors that are worth maintaining rather than replacing.
